Exploring practical AI through hands-on experiments, local tools, and real-world testing.

Kevin Dona

Welcome to tinkrbox.dev, my Edge AI Lab.

I'm Kevin Dona, a builder, problem solver, and lifelong technology enthusiast. My interest in technology started long before AI became a headline topic. From experimenting on a Commodore 64 as a kid to building software, exploring machine learning, and creating local AI tools today, I've always enjoyed figuring out how things work and seeing what can be built with them.

I created tinkrbox.dev as a place to explore practical applications of artificial intelligence and share what I learn along the way.

AI is moving quickly, and it can be difficult to separate genuine capability from marketing, headlines, and hype. My goal is to help people better understand what these technologies can realistically do by building, testing, and documenting real-world examples.

Much of my work focuses on local and edge AI: running language models, image generation, voice synthesis, and other AI tools directly on consumer hardware. Through experiments, articles, web applications, and downloadable tools, I try to make these technologies more accessible to people who are curious but may not know where to start.

This site serves as both a learning laboratory and a collection of practical resources. Some projects are simple demonstrations. Others explore deeper technical concepts. All of them are driven by the same question: how can these tools be used effectively by real people solving real problems?

Whether you're here to learn, experiment, or simply satisfy your curiosity, I hope you'll find something useful.
